EMSella Q&A

What is urinary incontinence?

Urinary incontinence is an involuntary loss of urine. There are many different reasons for incontinence, and it can happen to anyone, although the older you get, the higher your risk level.

One of the most common causes of urinary incontinence is weak pelvic floor muscles. This collection of muscle tissue enables you to control your bladders and bowel. Your pelvic floor muscles can weaken after childbirth, especially if you have more than one child. The aging process also plays a significant role, and most women will eventually encounter some form of urinary incontinence throughout their lives.

Incontinence is a relatively minor problem for some women and doesn’t interfere with everyday activities. For others, leaking urine makes it challenging to engage in certain activities or feel confident without using special pads or other incontinence products.

What is Emsella?

Emsella is a non-invasive treatment that helps strengthen and support weakened pelvic floor muscles. The process uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM®) waves to stimulate targeted muscle tissue.

This carefully controlled energy stimulates your muscles to contract with no effort on your part. You build new muscle fibers, strengthen your pelvic floor, and improve bladder control.

There is no need for any form of anesthesia with Emsella treatments. You don’t have to do anything special to prepare for your treatments, and there’s no recovery time.

What happens during Emsella treatments?

A course of two treatments a week for three weeks is ideal for achieving optimal results. Each session lasts just 30 minutes, so you’ll be back to your normal routine in no time.

During your visit, you’ll sit on the Emsella treatment chair. You don’t need to change into a gown, and there is no pain during your session. You can read, listen to music, or just relax while the chair delivers the HIFEM waves.

It may take a few weeks for you to begin to see improvements, although some women report changes even after their first session. Many women who’ve completed Emsella treatment also report reduced lower back pain and enhanced orgasms.
